Goss Electric places a strong emphasis on the safety and health of our people. We accomplish this effort in some basic fundamentals.
Education is the foundation of our entire plan.
- Our Safety Director is an OSHA Certified instructor.
- All of our employees attend OSHA 10 hour certified courses.
- We have competent supervisors directing the work activities.
Goss employees and supervisors have written plans to follow.
- We have site specific safety and health plans for all jobs.
- Each supervisor has a written Injury Management Plan to guide him through any jobsite accident or emergency.
- We have specific written procedures for the high-hazard situations, i.e. confined space entry, lock-out/tag-out, excavation work and high elevations work.
- We also have HAZWOPER certifications for jobs done in hazardous atmosphere potential areas, or work around chemical process plants.
- Equipment operators are also certified in the safe operation of the equipment they use during the work activities.
All Goss work is self inspected and audited visually by senior management officers.
- Foremen do daily audits of their work and their crew's safety performance.
- Superintendents do a weekly inspection of the MSDS file, crew safety performance at each work area, and the tool and equipment storage locations.
- The Safety Director audits each jobsite at least tqice a month. During these audits, he will do a special training session with the work crews.
Goss senior management is very active in the incentive plan.
- Recognition dinners for good and safe work are held regularly at each jobsite that qualifies.
- An awards dinner takes place in December each year.
- Other notable incentives includes jackets, hats and penlights.
The benefits resulting from the Goss Saftey Plan are:
- A continual declining EMR.
- And best of all, a safe jobsite, safe and happy customers and workers.
